Diabetes and Hypertension

Known that diabetes can cause various complications. But it was one of the most frequent complications were hypertension, diabetes is so often called her soul mate hypertension.

 "When high blood sugar levels it will indirectly increase the levels of hormones such angiotensi two that cause hypertension," said the doctor from the Department of Medicine Faculty of medicine. 
 If complications occur is not immediately handled properly, it can cause disability that will not be back again as before. Apart from hypertension, diabetes patients are also much affected by complications of heart disease is about 40 percent. 
 Blood sugar levels are constantly high or not well controlled can cause damage or complications that cause thickening and narrowing of blood vessel walls. Type of complications that occur can affect large blood vessels, small and too nervous. 
"Management of diabetes should be done thoroughly and not just limited to approach sugar levels. But it is also aggressive multifactorial approach to identify patients with cardiovascular risk factors," he said. 
 To manage chronic complications should control risk factors such as exercise regularly, avoid sedentary lifestyle, do the controls on a regular basis and if need medication it should be consumed with care. 
 Diabetes usually does not cause death, but a person can die from complications they experienced. Therefore, diabetes is often called the silent killer. 
"Diabetes is a lifelong disease and brought to death. So his diet is not just for this week only but for life. Therefore, prevention becomes important," said Dr. Budiman.
